Develop Your In Home Routine

With all that we have to do every day, it’s no wonder that so many of us need reminders about even the simplest and most important things, like taking care of our teeth. The technology of online calendars, cell phone texts and messaging services all help in reminding us about work and social dates. They are also useful in helping us remember the regularly scheduled dental appointments that are so essential for good oral health.

There’s also help for those of us who are not so tech-savvy. Leave your toothpaste and toothbrush in plain sight so that when you go into the bathroom you are instantly reminded to brush. Most people like to leave the house with a fresh, clean mouth but with the rush of the morning agenda, it’s easy to get sidelined. A brightly colored post it on the inside of the front door can stop you in your tracks and remind you to go back and use your mouthwash.

If your family checks the todo list on the kitchen calendar every morning, make sure to leave a little reminder to take a container of flossing string along to use after midday meals or snacks.

Remind everyone in the family to brush before they call it a night. Bedtime is a great time to brush and make sure that any leftover food particles won’t have a chance to fester as you sleep.

Organize your home routine and see your dentist at six-month intervals to further your odds of maintaining long-term oral health. Call Kendra L. Patterson, DMD today @ 303-722-9504 in Denver.
